I have this sub hooked up to a Hifonics Hfi1000.1d 1000 Watt RMS HFI Series Mono Channel Class D Car Amplifier + Cadence Wk41 Complete Wiring Kitin a custom sealed box running at 750 watts and it BANGS!!!!! My trunk moves up and down about a quarter inch when it hits and my roof flexes and air is forced out the trim of my sunroof and i only have one sub. I push this sub hard every day and it holds up to my abuse, I think my car will rattle itself apart before the sub blows. I am planning on putting one in a friends car because she herd mine and wants something as clean and loud as mine. I have/would recommend this product along with the amp to anyone who is looking for a quality sub.

Rockford Fosgate makes some GREAT equipment at extremely affordable prices. This subwoofer is no exception. I have this hooked up to a Rockford Fosgate Prime R500-1 500-Watt Mono Amplifier and it's like the perfect combo. The sub is housed in a ported enclosure at around 1.63 cubic feet (1.79 is what they recommend)and tuned to around 39Hz. It's a dual 4-ohm sub, so each voice coil can be wired to each other in parallel creating a 2-ohm load to present to the amp.The construction on this sub is excellent. The frame is an extremely sturdy die-case aluminum frame, and the cone is made from anodized aluminum, not paper. Overall construction on it is just excellent. For a sub in this price range, it blows away the competition.There are 10 gauge wire terminals on each voice coil and I would recommend using 12 or 10 gauge wire for this sub. I used some quality 12 gauge wire to help minimize power loss. I had to re-wire the terminals on the box I used because it looked like some cheap 16 gauge wire, so make sure that you have quality wire running all the way from you amp outputs DIRECTLY into the sub with no cheap stuff in the middle.This sub handles any type of music with ease. Produces great sounding bass at any volume and every frequency. Rockford Fosgate really has one of the nicest sounding and best constructed subs in this price range. Definitely a life long customer to RF.

Wow!. I ordered this sub to put in my acura with the stock head unit and the stock amplifier and speakers. I built the bass reflex enclosure up to Rockford Fosgates paremters. I also chose the Rockford Fosgate R500-1d to power it......HOLY CRAP! this thing makes the cieling of my car flex! This sub is perfect, i mean it hits like a 15, but dosent need 1500 watts of power to add a big punch to your stereo. The sound quality is unsurpassed. I listen to Weezer and turn the bass down on the head unit, to get a nice punchy tight bass. I am literally able to hear every beat of the bass drum and every note played by the bassist, its very clean and accurate. The bass reproduction on hip hop songs is also impressive. As i said earlier this subwoofer makes my whole car shake, door, trunk, everything. With the port tuned to around 38 hz maybe 40, this thing hits super low, i mean really low, and really loud at the same time. I was really surprised that it would reproduce the low frequenicies as loud as the higher ones. With the correct enclosure this subwoofer will outperform any other sub within the price range. Rockford Fosgate makes the best products on the market, in terms of quality and price. Buy this and it will bring you years of bass satisfaction.Btw, the people that wrote comments saying that it blew and what not with the recomened 600 watts, they iether1.) got a defective product that broke2.) dont know how to wire a dvc sub to the correct resistance output so blew it or3.) worked the sub out of its rms power rating and blew itThis subwoofer is built like tank, nuff said.
