5Good sound in a small space.
By James Peterson
I have mine mounted in a shallow ported box under the rear bench seat of the truck. It produces good sounding bass in a small space. They won't win you any SPL competitions, but it does sound good and the price is decent. I liked them better than the Kicker and MTX products. If they last as long as my old set of RF's did I'll be more than happy with them.

5Better than I thought and perfect for my needs
By Creech, Curtis E.
I used this product in the center console vehicle specific subwoofer enclosure from MTX for my 07 Tahoe (same design as JL Audio Stealboxes). The sub was to be mounted in the console under the dash and needed to clear less than 5" of depth, be 10" to fit the enclosure, and 2 Ohms to maximize my amp's power output. That narrowed my subwoofer choices considerably and ruled out the aforementioned Stealthboxes because JL Audio does not offer a 2 Ohm version for my vehicle. I have had this sub in my Tahoe for about a month now. I had my doubts about the ability of a shallow mount subwoofer to perform well. I mean...there's a reason why nearly all subs have such big magnets, right? As a bit of background, I have been into car audio since I first started driving in 1989, owning subs from several of the top manufacturers including Kicker (original Kicker 12", MTX 12" Blue Thunders, JL Audio (12W1 up to their top-of-the line and highly regarded 12W7 which is currently installed in my G35 coupe) and of course, Rockford (this is now my 3rd sub of theirs starting with the ORIGINAL 12" Punch more than 20 years ago). I consider myself discerning and a bit critical of my audio gear.It has been well established in car audio sound competition that for balanced sound in most vehicles, your subwoofer's box should have an F3 of about 50Hz. This means that the sub is starting to roll off in bass response at 50Hz. With a 43Hz low frequency cut off, this sub in the proper box, about .6 cubic ft sealed like my MTX enclosure, will do that easily. All vehicles have a natural bass boost in the lowest octaves and a 50Hz F3 will generally result in the flattest sound possible for your vehicle (ie, best sound for me)...all the way down to 20Hz or below. With that in mind, let me say that this sub sounds good...very good...with every type of music I have thrown at it from classical to rock and rap. Given that most people can hear down to 20Hz, you may think that the 43Hz limitation is just that...limiting. It is not. The vast majority of music does not contain bass in the lowest octave of audible music, 20-40Hz anyway, so this will reproduce 99% of music out there and do so very well, even without the vehicle's natural bass boost. In the vehicle with that boost, it is definitely loud enough to feel, even in the 20-30Hz range. I am surprised and quite pleased at the quality of this shallow mount woofer. Now, this sub is definitely not the loudest one out there. So, if you want to shake holes in the ground, look for bigger, more efficient subs and feed them with gobs of power; otherwise, properly installed, this sub will sound fantastic in your vehicle, at least for most people, even very critical "audiophiles". If you have design limitations in your vehicle like I did and like balanced sound as compared to bass heavy, you will be very pleased with this sub.Pros:More than adequate bass quality and quantity; shallow mount; dual voice coils allowed 2 ohm load to get the most power from the sub output of my 5 channel amp; super small enclosure size; fit my vehicle specific enclosure from MTX. Overall, a very good sounding sub, especially given space and design limitations of a small box and shallow mount restrictions.Cons:This sub was a bit muddy during very complex bass passages at first, but cleared up somewhat after the break-in period. I have still heard better, deeper, and more detailed bass reproduction from my JL Audio 12W7, but that sub cost almost 5 times as much as this one and does not have the same design limitations, so that is not a fair comparison.

4Rockford Fosgate Punch P3 10" shallow
By scott215
Very happy with it as a shallow. I used to replace the 10" JL w1 in my stealthbox. Major improvement of the JL, with 300 watts going to it at 2 ohms. I have had 2 other shallow mount subs, that I was not happy with, so I was skeptical. The low frequencies rival some full size subs.
