I bought this 8" subwoofer after looking at JBL, Kicker, Polk, and others, because it only needs a .283 cubic foot sealed enclosure. Other 8" subs need between a .3 and .5 cubic foot sealed enclosure. Also this 8" sub has a mounting depth of 4.39 inches, others require more. The manual says the sub needs .23 cubic foot plus 0.053 cubic foot for the sub itself, which when added together gives .283 cubic foot. Beware, the sample enclosure dimensions in the manual give .23 cubic foot but that's before mounting the sub.The package includes the subwoofer, 8 hex-socket wood screws, a hex driver, and a trim ring. The hex-socket screws are nice because it helps prevent puncturing your new sub with your screwdriver when tightening the screws. The trim ring is just that, a ring but no speaker mesh. I bought this grill:Rockford Fosgate Punch P8G P1 or P2 8-Inch Subwoofer Grillebut it did not fit although it is for "a P1 or P2 8 inch subwoofer." Probably this grill will fit (but I did not try it):Rockford Fosgate P1G-8 Punch P1 8-Inch Black Steel Mesh Woofer GrilleInstead I cut and shaped some metal window screen, painted it gloss black, then glued it to the backside of the trim ring using a hot glue gun. Much cheaper.My sub is mounted in a "homebrew" sealed enclosure made from 3/4" MDF and located under my front passenger seat. This location gives very clear thump to the front row and does not overwhelm the back row like a rear-mounted sub might. I'm pushing this sub with a 120 watt RMS Kenwood amp mounted under the driver seat. I'm very satisfied with the resulting thump!

As KA Leong stated, I too noticed a discrepancy in the enclosure specifications. I ended up building my enclosure to 0.283 cubic feet. I have not added polyfill into the enclosure yet, but will do so later.Overall, the build quality and small enclosure requirement is good for an entry level 8" driver. But, dont expect insane bass from this driver. It gives you enough to do the job but not enough to rattle your car (and occupants). It handles power well and does not pop when distorting, it just sounds more muddy when played at the limits. I've considered fabricating a second enclosure and adding a second woofer, we'll see.Unfortunately, the driver does NOT include a grill and the cost of the grill is pretty high. I ended up purchasing the proper grill and overpaid, but I'de rather have a solid grill that does not rattle and bend at the slightest touch. They really SHOULD include the grill, its silly. They give you the bezel (surround) with no grill.

I've been using Rockford Fosgate products for some time and they are still as good as ever. Maybe not at the level of JL but a close second.If you need a great sub for limited space, This is your best option. Sound quality is great and they hit hard. Great sub !
